Language is the foundation of culture.
Before art, music, food, film, fashion, architecture, or civilization, there was the word. Words are building blocks with the power to create connection, transport us to surreal landscapes, and provide hope while navigating ever changing uncertainties of the future. Through the written word in all its forms, I strive to encourage and inspire, showing what’s possible when you live outside of your comfort zone.
That’s where the grand adventure of life begins.

Hello,
My name is Colton Wingrove and I’m a writer.
Every so often I still reflect on those days where it all started—spending countless hours reading whatever happened to fall into my lap in that quiet, cozy library, which sheltered me from the bustling traffic on Michigan Avenue in downtown Chicago.
Literature helped me travel the world through stories from the great authors that shaped me into the person that I am, leading me to dream of exploring far corners of the globe.
In 2023, I left my stable job at a NeuroMedical Center in a leap of faith and decided to spend the remainder of my twenties traveling to those far away places painted in second hand books and antique maps that left me day-dreaming in my office.
I haven’t looked back.
Time is the most precious commodity that we have to share because it doesn’t come with a crisp receipt. The way that you spend your time reveals attitude, habits, passions, and character. Experiences drift into a river of memories that deepen with the passing of time, ultimately accumulating into a life story filled with tragedy, beauty, and comedy.
From the mysterious mountains in Tierra del Fuego, soothing samba clubs of Rio de Janeiro, colorful rug shops of Istanbul, and Mayan ruins of Guatemala to sailing expeditions in San Francisco, tranquil coastal trails of the Camino Portugese, fine art museums of Italy, and Gothic castles in Edinburgh, this page offers thoughts on faith, art, culture, and travel.
